All You Need To Know About Stanford Radio

Launched by the Stanford University, KZSU is the standford radio station which is a freeform FM broadcasting radio station. A freeform radio format is the one where the disc jockey entirely controls the music to be played and music genres or commercial interests are not considered.

The key details about the KZSU radio station are as follows:

• Frequency: 90.1 MHz

• Launch date: On January 6, 1947, this radio station began broadcasting.

• Location: Stanford, California

• Owner: Stanford University

The staff of this radio is all-volunteer and is comprised of the staff, students, and locals of Standford. As it is a freeform radio, DJs of the standford radio have a lot of influence on the music that is played.

Apart from the music shows, KZSU also telecasts shows related to news, public affairs, and significant events in Stanford. The main shows include the weekly Palo Alto City Council which is telecasted on Monday Nights and Wednesday Night Live among other specials.

Different Broadcasted Games

They also broadcast games of the eight different Stanford sports which comprise soccer, volleyball, basketball, baseball, and softball which have teams of both men and women.

Over the years, some of the most famous shows of the radio have been “Standford Sadie”, a satirical show revolving around World War II, “Mystery Playhouse”, which was a radio drama series, “Punker The Puke”, which saw unscripted interviews with punk rock celebrities, “What would your mother say”, “The Drum”, and “Wednesday Night Live”.

The radio sometimes has problems due to interference from a few nearby radio stations, but the quality of shows and the music they play easily overshadows these petty technical issues.

Freethought Radio is your radio station. It’s your platform for your message and that is what it always will be. I am proud of and greatly admire all the personalities that broadcast or have broadcasted through Freethought Radio; people such as David Eller, Jeff Dee and Company, Damian Bishop, James Nash, Alleee and Francoise, Atheistar, Lauren and Jan Floyd, Reverend Jeremiah, Apostate Annie, JMP Murphy, Marie Castle and the Atheist Alliance, Reggie Finley the Infidel Guy, Clay Jenkinson aka Thomas Jefferson , James Randi, Karen Armstrong, Peter Stanford and many, many others.
